Serving the Roma people

Aidan and Alfinda
Country: North Macedonia
Home Church: WPC Maida Vale
Organisation: Wycliffe, Australia.
Aidan and Alfinda Herman, who were sent by WPC Maida Vale in Perth, are serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia. They have been living in Skopje, capital of North Macedonia, since mid-2021. They have three young boys, one of whom was born in Skopje.
Aidan and Alfinda have a heart for the Roma people (also known as the Gypsies). The Roma are spread all over Europe, with a high concentration in Eastern Europe. Many Roma experience marginalisation from the wider society and live in poverty, with low education and poor health. Yet Roma in great numbers have turned to Christ and found salvation. Aidan and Alfinda long to see Roma believers grow in their walk with Christ and have a deeper understanding of God’s Word.
After spending the first couple of years learning and adapting to the local language and culture, and building relationships, Aidan and Alfinda are settling into their ministry roles. Aidan is serving as part of the team for a Bible translation project in the Roma language spoken in Macedonia. Alfinda is involved in literacy ministry for Roma children and supporting youth ministry among Roma young adults.
